What we do

We tell the untold stories of people in need around the world. And help the charities that support them raise money for their life-changing work.

We are a global team of photographers, writers and filmmakers, working with charities in some of the poorest countries in the world. We provide much needed photos and videos which are essential for them to tell their stories effectively and raise funds.

These charities are having a positive impact on the lives of 100,000 people - through microfinance, education, business development and training, reading schemes, agri-forestry and health projects - in 15 countries.

By sharing the stories of these communities, and bringing the work of the charities to life visually, we help transform the way they get attention, raise awareness and increase their funding. The charities that we support haven’t many resources of their own; yet they help restore dignity, purpose and hope to people who can then sustain livelihoods, gain education and provide futures for their communities.

We build long-term partnerships with the communities that we visit and with charities that are saving lives, improving businesses, increasing profitably and creating employment on four continents.

A brief history

Taking Pictures, Changing Lives was founded in 2009 by development photographer Adam Dickens.

In the last 9 years Taking Pictures, Changing Lives have made over 70 visits to charity projects and partners on 4 continents, flown 20 times round the world, (to the moon and back!) spent more than 17 months abroad documenting the work of 25 small charities working in 15 countries and gifted over 60,000 photos to those charities. These charities are helping whole communities out of poverty, restoring dignity and lost hope.

We have extensive experience working in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, Zambia, Ghana, Togo, India, Nepal, Peru and Sri Lanka, as well as the UK, Greece & Bulgaria.
