Ghana for Hope for Children

This was my first trip of the year, to Tamale in Northern Ghana. I travelled with Matt Callanan from We Make Good Happen, a filmmaker based in Cardiff who I met through Deki. Also joining me was Georgina Garnett, a documentary photographer, niece of my good friend and long time collaborator Richard Garnett. Ed Fletcher, marketing director for Hope for Children also joined us. It makes such a difference having charity representatives with me on these trips.

I was in Ghana to work on content for a major campaign for Hope for Children, an international charity that passionately believes every child has the right to a happy, healthy and positive childhood.  They have supported children into education, helped building schools for children with disability and contributed to increase families’ income through income generation activities and micro-finance schemes.

Much of the week was spent visiting children in schools in the Tamale region, interviewing them and hearing their stories.

This was the first trip that I’ve been joined by a filmmaker, and it meant that I could concentrate on taking photos.

It was good be back in Ghana, I was last here a year ago visiting Deki’s work in remote communities in the north.
